86th birthday of Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah observed in Sivasagar

Staff Reporter, Sibsagar, September 3: 'Arjun' Bhugeswar Baruah's 86th birth anniversary, observed as Abhiruchi Day in Assam, witnessed a huge turn out of leading sports persons, sports organizers,students and sports lovers today in Rangpurjyoti Club premises today to take part in the day-long celebrations in Sivasagar,the birthplace of the legendary runner. Among the sports persons former national players Rajani Chetia, Mina Saikia, Pronob Das, Sunni Barua ,and Prasanna Das lit the ceremonial Olympic flame.Aswinu Kumar Doley ,CEO, Jila Parishad flagged off the marathon that converged at Bhogeswar Barua's massive statue on the bank of the Sivasagar Borpukhuri. Punaram Mili, Babul Khan, Rana Khan, Manoj Kr Borthakur, Dhananjay Saikia, Inamul Hazarika, Jayanta Rajkumar, Dharani Chetia, Somesh Deka, Govin Bora, Jayjyoti Gogoi, Bhoirab Munda, and a host of other important personalities of the town took part in the marathon besides representatives of various clubs.Mina Baruah, ceremonially cut the birthday cake .
