Hailakandi, July 19: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Hailakandi successfully organized a Kisan Mela at Hailakandi Town Hall on Tuesday to conclude the observance of three days of technology showcasing cum awareness program on the occasion of the 95th Foundation Day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The mela was organized to showcase different ICAR technologies among the participants along with farmers’ scientist interaction, the interaction of FPCs and SHGs with NGOs and Companies for better income and livelihood improvement, awareness on millet & its uses for nutritional wellbeing, and showcasing of different millet recipes. A total of 13 nos. of exhibition stall by different stakeholders participated in the exhibition namely, Graduate Farmers, NULM, ASRLM, Hailakandi FPC Ltd., Katlicherra FPC Ltd., Meen Unnayan FPC Ltd., District AH and veterinary Department, District Fishery Department, Bio-resource project from IIT Guwahati, Viksit Foundation Silchar, Seva Kendra Silchar, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Hailakandi and Adhunik nursery. Assistant Commissioner Shreya Singhal, IAS inaugurated the event and addressed the gatherings. Abdul Baten Chowdhury, DAO; Dr. Jayanta Talukder, DVO; Parvez Lashkar, CPM NULM; Soumitra Dey, DPM ASRLM and Dr. Satananda Bhattacharyee, renowned journalist and Social worker of Hailakandi district were also present in the programme and motivated the gathering with thoughtful speech. To commemorate the International Millet Year 2023, ICAR KVK Hailakandi has showcased different millets varieties of India along with 16 nos. of millet recipes namely, bajra kheer, bajra rab, ragi halwa, bajra soup, ragi laddus, bajra crunchies, bajra laddus, ragi drink, bajra upma, bajra pulao, bajra pen cake, bajra halwa, steamed ragi cake, ragi chilla, ragi nimki and methi puri for creating awareness among the farmers on millets, the Nutri cereals. Moreover, KVK showcased different ICAR technologies on backyard poultry viz, BND Bird, Kadaknath, Turkey .
