Arunachal boxers shines in 5th Jr Boys’ Nat’l Boxing C’ship semifinals

Sports Desk, Itanagar, July 13: Arunachal Pradesh witnessed an impressive display of boxing prowess as six talented boxers from the state stormed into the semifinals of the 5th National Junior Boys Boxing Championship. The tournament, held in Itanagar, showcased the exceptional skills and determination of these young athletes. In the flyweight 48 kg category, Loma Riyang of Arunachal left no room for doubt as he delivered an outstanding performance against Divash Katare of the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB). Riyang's relentless attacks led him to a resounding victory, defeating Katare with an emphatic 5-0 score. Tarh Lohia, competing in the lightweight 57 kg category, displayed his tenacity as he went head-to-head against Manipur's M Punshiba. In a closely contested bout, Lohia exhibited his superior technique and strategic acumen, securing a hard-fought victory with a narrow 3-2 scoreline. Nenthok Hodong, representing Arunachal Pradesh in the bantamweight 52 kg category, demonstrated his mettle in a gripping encounter against Abinash Das of Assam. The match was a true test of skill and determination, with Hodong emerging triumphant by a close margin of 3-2. Techi Jacky, competing in the pinweight 44 kg category, showcased his dominance in the ring against Abdul Hadi Omar of Telangana. Jacky's flawless technique and precision punches overwhelmed his opponent, resulting in a convincing 5-0 victory. The light bantamweight 50 kg category witnessed a brilliant performance by Gayki Rie of Arunachal, who faced off against Dhruv from Haryana. Rie's speed and agility proved to be too much for his opponent to handle, securing a commendable 4-1 victory. In the featherweight 54 kg category, Tagio Liyak of Arunachal delivered a masterful performance against Arman of Chandigarh. Liyak's skillful footwork and powerful punches left no doubt about his superiority in the ring, culminating in a comprehensive 5-0 victory. The exceptional performances by these Arunachal boxers have not only placed them in the semifinals of the national championship but also underscored the state's emerging talent in the sport of boxing.
