Guwahati, June 30: "The great leaders of Hul revolution or Santhal revolution took place in present Jharkhand's Bhognadih village Sidhoo and Kanhu always inspired us for the extreme sacrifice for the cause of our motherland" -Bimal Borah,Minister for Cultural affairs, Industries etc department, Assam said in his speech as Chief Guest in the open session of central program of National Integration Day of Adivasis or Hul Divas today at Srimanta Sankardev auditorium Panjabari here. The minister also said that the Chaotali people have the great relationship with nature,it depicts in their color of attire and in their dance form.The Minister also make a request to the Chaotal Student Union and Chaotal Sahitya Sabha to prepare a book on Hul Revolution that people of our state come to know about this as no book on this available in Assamese language. The 168th Hul Day not only memorializes the heroes of the Hul Rebellion but also symbolizes our collective reverence for the countless individuals who fought against British rule, the minister reiterated. It is worth mentioning that the revolution took place in the year 1855, June 30. In this revolution almost 50 thousand Chaotali people took part and fought with their traditional weapons against the British.It was one of the greatest anti British revolutions in India against British colonialism,where approximately 20 thousand people had sacrificed their life. The open session of the 168th Hul Day, commemorating the Heroes of the Hul Rebellion was presided by the president of Assam Chaotal student Union. The meeting was attended by the Member Parliament Kamakhya Prasad Tasha, Prithvi Majhi, former Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Pankaj kumar Nath,President of All Assam Journalists Union and other dignitaries. A memorandum with some diamonds of Assam Chaotal Student Union handed over to the Cultural Minister in the meeting by the General Secretary of the Student Union Dipankar Hemrom.
