Staff Reporter, Barpeta, February 24: A two-day training on Menstrual Hygiene among nodal teachers of school in Barpeta district held on February 22 to 23 last at Tarunram Phukan hall here. The programme was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) cum Barpeta District Mission Coordinator, SSA Lakhimi Dutta and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) Gitashri Lachit by lighting lanterns. In her inaugural speech, Dutta said that the most important issue related to education in the present time is the mental and physical development of the students. She discussed in detail the precautions to be taken during menstruation and it is not something to be ashamed of.

Additional District Commissioner (Health) Gitashri Lachit in her speech highlighted the consequences of anemia due to carelessness and said that the teaching community should play an important role in this regard. A total of 264 teachers from Bhawanipur, Chenga, and Bajali blocks attended the training. Similarly, the second day of training was jointly inaugurated by Assistant District Commissioners Nimashri Dewka and Juri Kalita. Both of these officers enlightened the trainee teachers with their acquainted knowledge on Menstrual Hygiene Management. Rima Kalita, Dolly Bhuyan along with other medical officers cum doctors were present as resource persons in the programmes. The training was coordinated by Chandan Kumar Das and Leena Barman.
