Nagaon, October 19: As part of Sascha Bharat Abhiyan initiated by Government of India, the NSS units no 1 and 2 of historic Nowgong College (autonomous) organized an awareness drive in various locations especially market places in and around the small town conducting collection of one-time use plastic garbage and also took initiatives to recycle the same since October 1 last. As part of the programme, over 150 students of those two NSS units led by Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of the college as well as the programme officers of those NSS units respectively prof Dr Bhuban Chandra Chetia and prof Dr Manash jyoti Nirmolia today also conducted a drive to collect one-time use plastic bag and other garbage in and around the college premises. During the drive, the NSS units collected over 65 kilograms of used plastic bags and other items and handed it over to Nagaon municipality board for recycling, a release issued by the college concerned added. In the release, it is stated that the drive will continue from time to time in the town in the days to come.
