Sahitya akademi's Gramalok programme held

Staff Reporter, Biswanath Chariali, September 20: Gramalok is a literary programme initiated by the national academy of letters to upload and uplift the village level writers by giving a platform. This time, the gramalok programme was held at Basanta Smriti Sangsthan, Balipukhiri with a day-long programme on Sunday last with Hari Upadhyaya in the chair. The literary programme began with lighting of ceremonial lamps in front of the portrait of Basanta Nepal by Pradip Upadhyaya. Sanjib Upadhyaya briefed the objectives of the meeting which was followed by a chorus. Dr. Khemraj Nepal, advisory member of Sahitya Akademi for the Nepali language explained the aims and objectives of the gramalok programme. Dr. Jagannath Upadhyaya, former vice principal of Chayduwar College inaugurated the poetry session. Poets including Rudra Das, Anup Sarma, Jamuna Sarma, Writtik Sarma, Bedadip Upadhyaya, Sudakhina Devi, Numal Bhattarai, Neha Bhattarai, Hemsagar Sarma, Dipannita Gajurel, Ram Krishna Kafle and Sarada Parajuli read out their self-composed poems. Arjun Nirola forwarded a critical analysis of the poems. Child artists Kirtika Upadhyaya, Arnab Bhattarai, Dibya Bhattarai, Dikshya Bhattarai, Barnali Devi, Yashraj Powdel and Kabita Devi performed cultural activities. The meeting was also addressed by Chandra Luitel, Cheban Sarma and Hemanta Bhattarai.
