BSF personnel passed away

Staff Reporter North Lakhimpur, September 2: Prashanta Saikia, a BSF personnel, working in West Bengal from K.B. Road, North Lakhimpur town of Lakhimpur district, passed away in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital(LMCH), North Lakhimpur last night. He was 48. He had been suffering from cancer and was under treatment in the LMCH. He was a skilled volleyball player of the district and participated in several inter-district volleyball competitions. He joined the BSF as a jawan in 1995. He leaves behind his parents,three brothers, three sisters, wife and three daughters, besides a host of relatives. Late Saikia's mortal body was cremated today at his birth village Kharkati near Panigaon,North Lakhimpur with a guard of honour in the presence of a BSF Inspector from Guwahati. An amiable in nature, he was loved by all. His death cast a pall of gloom in North Lakhimpur.
