Three day SIP session held at Lakhimpur Commerce College

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, August 20: A three day Student Induction Programme(SIP) for newly admitted undergraduate students was held at Lakhimpur Commerce College, North Lakhimpur. The three day SIP session was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC)of the college from August 16 to 18. The SIP session was inaugurated by Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college on August 18. In his inaugural address Dr Hazarika welcomed the newly admitted students of B.Com and B.A. 1st Semesters and introduced to every aspect of the college including the teachers of all departments, library staff and the office staff. Matters related to academics, New Education Policy, syllabus, pedagogy, attendance, examinations and other concerns were informed to the students in the inaugural session. In all three days of the SIP, orientation programmes were held on mission, vision, core values and code of conduct of the college, about each teaching departments, library procedures and practices, regulations, curriculum, syllabus of CBCS, about functions on various cells and clubs in the college, information about student scholarships and e-grants, on office procedures and management etc. Awareness programmes on the mentor-mentee system in the college, visits to the hostel, library and departments of the college were also organized as part of the SIP during those three days in parallel sessions for B.Com and B.A. 1st Semester students. On the final day a motivational speech for students were delivered by Prof. Sazzad Hussain, HoD, English,Lakhimpur Commerce College. Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college delivered the concluding remark on the final session of the day. Various sessions of the three day SIP were conducted by G.K. Chetry, Vice Principal, Dr Dadul Rajkonwar, coordinator, IQAC, Dr. Diganta Das of Accountancy department, Dr. M.K. Sil of Hindi department, Dr. Sikhamoni Borgohain of Economics department, Dr. Harinee Patwary Das and Pankaj Lochan Das of English department, Manoj Tamuly of Sociology department, librarian of the college Runjun Baruah, Head Assistant of the college Jagat Dutta, Accountant Deepak Borbora and office assistant Anup Gogoi.
