Biswanath Chariali, August 1: Under the umbrella scheme of Chief Minister’s Institutional Plantation Programme (CMIPP), a day-long programme was carried out inside the office premises of Agriculture, Biswanath on Sunday. Nearly 50 local breeds of saplings including Debadaru, Neem, Sewali, Musenda, Kanchan etc were planted. Notably, the CMIPP was formally launched at Biswanath on July 18. Dipak Barhoi, the agriculture officer of Biswanath felicitated farmers of Biswanath including Punya Prasad Khaund, Moon Kalita, Dipankar Bora, Dipam Bora in the beginning of the programme. Agriculture officer Barhoi briefed about the importance and significance of Shyamalee Chauhad scheme and appealed to the people to put their hands together in making the project a success. The programme was attended by Pradip Talukdar, Layanmoy Borthakur, officials from the agriculture department. Nodal officer Manash Pratim Das conducted the proceedings of the inaugural session.
