Minister Ashok Singhal ceremonially inaugurates three parks at Nagaon

Bureau Report, Nagaon, August 31: The state minister for housing and urban affairs - Ashok Singhal today ceremonially inaugurated three parks being renovated and reconstructed in the small town here. Besides, the minister also participated in a slew of programmes in the town during the day, sources said. The minister inaugurated Mahendra Nath Moi Heng Dang Dekaphukon park near Nagaon Baptist Church following which he also ceremonially inaugurated two other including Natyapran Saroda Kanta Bordoloi and Pranab Boruah memorial park near Nagaon Nehrubali field. It is worth mentioning that these three parks are renovated and reconstructed for beautification of the town with an estimating costs of Rs 4 crores under special pursuance of local MLA Rupak Sarma who accompanied the minister during the inaugural ceremony of those three parks today. During his visit, the minister also attended a meeting at the auditorium of Nagaon district library where he distributed scooty among 'sakhi' of the women self help groups. The minister held a meeting with the officials concerned of the municipality board as well as district administration at the DC's conference hall in the afternoon. During the meeting, he reviewed the ongoing schemes and other projects being sponsored by the government and also took stock from the concerned authorities in this regard, sources added. While addressing the local media, the minister referred to the drought weather and said the scarcity of water like this year was never seen in the state. It is happening due to climate change across the globe, the minister said, adding that Food Corporation of India (FCI) had yet to procure 5 lakhs metric tons of rice from the farmers of the state in the current fiscal year. Reacting sharply to the recent remark on the Mughal emperor by MP Abdul Khalek, the minister said that on what basis he was proud of the Mughals. He is proud of the demolition of temples or for killing of people by those Mughals, the minister quizzed further.
