3 toll gates likely to be closed in Assam for violating NHAI guidelines

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, August 4: Nazirkhat, Galia and Madanpur toll gates on National Highways in Assam are likely to be shut down as they have allegedly violated the NHAI guidelines. As per reports, these highways have violated the fee rules 2008 of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways which states that the spacing between two adjacent toll plazas should be 60 kilometers. However, several toll gates have been set up ignoring the 60-kilometer rule which will be now closed soon by the ministry. Meanwhile, an RTI report revealed that there are 189 such toll gates in India that violate the NHAI 60-Kilometre rule. The same was also acknowledged by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. Earlier, Gadkari has also stated in the Lok Sabha that all toll collecting points on the National highways, which are within 60km of each other, will be closed in the next three months.
