North Lakhimpur, July 27: A free coaching programme for students aspiring to get admissions to the post- graduate commerce programmes in Dibrugarh University is underway in Lakhimpur Commerce College from today. The three-day free coaching for Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Entrance Test (DUPGET) in Finance and Marketing is being organized by the Department of Commerce of Lakhimpur Commerce College in association with the Information and Career Guidance (ICG) Cell of the college. The coaching programme was inaugurated by Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college. In his inaugural address Dr Hazarika informed the aspiring students about the emerging demand for commerce PG teachers in the New Education Policy-2020. The Principal said that NEP-2020 will require commerce PG teachers in all HS schools and colleges as multi-disciplinary study programmes would be introduced. The inaugural meeting was also addressed by G.K. Chetry, Vice Principal, Lakhimpur Commerce College. The course content of the free coaching for DUPGET was explained by Dr. Diganta Das, assistant professor in Accountancy. The inaugural meeting was also attended by Dr. Biva Dutta, co-ordinator, ICG Cell of the college. About twenty-five students from commerce colleges in Lakhimpur district are participating in the free coaching classes for DUPGET.
