ICARC observed foundation day at Nagaon

Bureau Report, Nagaon, July 16: On occasion of the 93th foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon organized a special programme at its office campus today. Dr Niranjan Deka, the head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon delivered the welcome address. Dr Amal Chandra Sarma, the principal scientist of Nagaon Shilongani based Regional Agricultural Research Center, Kanchan Pator, Kachomari ZP member graced the occasion as chief guest. Over hundred progressive farmers from Kachomari and Niz Simaluguri village participated in the programme. Similarly, the Kendra also inaugurated a programme of sowing saplings of sali paddy at a field covering over 40 bighas of land near Jungal Bolohu by applying a special machine. However, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra claimed that such machinery with modern technology was used for the first time in the district for sowing saplings of Sali paddy. While inaugurating the programme, Dr Niranjan Deka, the head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon said that with the new technology a farmer could boost the quantities of his crops by minimizing his work load as well as expenses. Bipin Kumar, the scientist of International paddy research centre was present in the programme as chief guest.
