AJYCP protests against the Khatangpani forest office at Digboi

Staff Reporter, Tinsukia, July 27: AJYCP today staged a strong protest against the Khatangpani forest office under Digboi forest division.Wild elephants coming out of Digboi forest in search of food have often caused nuisance in The Pengeri area .Especially in Khatangpani, Lalmati, Manmoujaan, Nagapathar villages, houses are broken and damaged.There are multiple examples of wild elephants demolishing the same family home three or four times a year. The forest department has promised to solve the terror of wild elephants at various times but has not taken any useful action till date.In view of which today the AJYCP Margherita Regional Committee implemented a protest programme with the help of local people.More than half a hundred protesters protested in front of the Khatangani forest office with slogans like Khatangani forest office alas! Alas! Forest Minister alas! Alas! The Assam government Alas! Alas! The protesters threatened to launch an even stronger democratic movement against the forest department if the forest department could not solve the wild elephant menace in the coming days.
