Newly elected GB of Basugaon municipality sworn

STAFF REPORTER, Chirang, June 18: Two years after the formation of a new government in BTR, the newly elected 13-member Managing Committee of The Basugaon Municipality took oath in the presence of Amit Ranjan Barman, Executive Officer of Basugaon Municipal Board cum Sidli Circle Officer . Based on this, an organization called Sewahi Sangha has been strongly opposed since morning through the sit-in programme at the entrance of the municipality but was forced to quit the dharna programme in the presence of a strong administration. It may be recalled that due to non-running committee of Basugaon Municipality for the last two years, the local people have always been harassed in the case of various workers and various party organisations have protested on multiple times before, but today the local people will be relieved even if the swearing-in programme is finally completed. It may be recalled that even after two years, questions were raised among the people as all the constructive work in the area was stalled as the governing body of The Basugaon Municipality had not been constituted for so long. It may be recalled that Basugaon Subhash Nagar resident Sadhan Mandal as president and Mwkhwm Basumatary as vice president along with A total of 13 members including Bhaskar Mandal and Dipankar Dey from Ward , Surajit Dey, Rupak Das and Hitesh Roy from Ward 2, Ajay Basumatary, Uttam Chaudhary and Rita Talukdar from Ward 3 and Sanjay Chanda, Soma Das and Babul Debnath from Ward 4 along with 11 ward commissioners from a total of four wards in Basugaon the governing body of the municipality was reconstituted. Today's swearing-in ceremony was attended by several leaders of BJP and UPPL parties besides MCLA Pradeep Bayan.
