Lakhimpur Commerce College observed Rabha Divas

Zulfiqur Ali, North Lakhimpur, June 20: Rabha Divas, celebrating the death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha was observed today at Lakhimpur Commerce College, North Lakhimpur along with the rest of the state. On this occasion, a programme was organized at the college marking the 53rd death anniversary of the legendary cultural and literary icon whose great offerings have made a remarkable impact on the culture as well as the literature and intellectual domain of Assam state. The celebration began with lighting the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Bishnu Prasad Rabha by Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college. The objective of the meeting was explained by Achyut Kumar Gogoi, Assistant Professor of the Assamese Department. Jagat Chandra Dutta, Head Assistant of the college delivered a lecture on the life and works of Bishnu Rabha in the meeting. Dr. Sangeeta Borthakur Tamuly, HoD of Economics recited a poem on Bishnu Rabha at the function. Tilok Chandra Deka, HoD, Assamese and Himadree Deka, office assistant also sang songs of Rabha in the function. Several students also performed songs and recited poetry of Kalaguru in the function. The entire Rabha Divas function of the college was anchored by Dr. Biva Dutta, Assistant Professor of Assamese Department. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manjumoni Saikia, Assistant Professor in Hindi Department of the college.
