Guwahati: A law like love
jihad will now be introduced in BJP ruled Assam very soon. Chief Minister Himant
Biswa Sarma said the law will keep an eye on people who hide their religion and
marry girls. He made it clear that this love jihad would not be called a law
and would apply to both Hindus and Muslims.
Hindus can't even cheat and
get married: CM
Chief Minister Himant Biswa
Sarma said, "After the enactment of this law, even a Hindu man will not be
able to marry a Hindu woman by hiding his information. We don't want to use the
word love jihad for this law. We believe that even Hindus cannot marry fraudulently.
When a Muslim fraudulently marries a Hindu woman, it is not love jihad. For me,
that too is jihad when a Hindu does it. This law will prevent those who marry
by cheating. '
He said that during the
elections, we had promised it in our manifesto. He said that first we will
bring in the Gu Raksha Law (cow protection). Then we will introduce a two-child
law, and then we will bring this law.
Department of Indigenous
Faith and Culture to be set up
In order to bring a law on
marriage, the Assam government will also set up a department of indigenous
faith and culture. The focus will be on areas where the population of Muslim immigrants
is growing rapidly. Himant Biswa Sarma said that through this department, those
who believe in all faiths will benefit.
He said, "Our tribal
people have their own language and beliefs, but so far governments have not
provided financial help to save their culture. We have decided to support them
to save their culture. The government has identified Bodo, Tribe, Moran, Motok,
Rabha and Mishing communities under this scheme.
