Forest Worker Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances in Kaziranga

Staff Reporter, Bokakhat: A young female forest worker serving in the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division of Kaziranga National Park was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her quarters at the DFO office’s residential area in Bokakhat on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Dashami Duwara, a resident of Athkheliya in Golaghat district. According to preliminary reports, authorities suspect the case to be a possible suicide, although the exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed. Her body was discovered inside her allotted quarters, and Bokakhat police have initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. Confirming the incident, Kaziranga Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Arun Vignesh said that an inquiry is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Dashami Duwara was part of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, which oversees critical areas of the Kaziranga National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its wildlife, including the one-horned rhinoceros. The incident has cast a shadow over the forest department, with officials and colleagues expressing shock over the untimely demise of the young worker.
