DHSK College Marks 80th Foundation Day

Staff Reporter, Dibrugarh: DHSK College (Autonomous) celebrated its 80th Foundation Day today with a solemn yet inspiring programme attended by students, faculty, and dignitaries. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Jiten Hazarika, Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, who in his address emphasized the importance of creativity and a balanced pursuit of achievement in education. He encouraged all members of the institution to treat every challenge as an opportunity for growth. Dr. Sangeeta Gogoi, Director of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, delivered a special lecture on "Mapping Connections with North East India and South East Asia: People-to-People Connections." She highlighted the value of cultural tolerance and language in knowledge-building and presented compelling evidence of India’s cultural influence across Southeast Asia through visuals of epics and religious traditions from countries like Myanmar, Vietnam, China, and Thailand. The day began with a flag hoisting by Governing Body President Abhimanyu Baruah, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting by Principal Dr. S.K. Saikia at the statue of founder Padmashree H.B. Kanoi. NCC cadets and Gayan-Bayan performers welcomed the guests. Dr. Bharati Dutta, retired professor, received the A.C. Choudhury Memorial Award and expressed heartfelt gratitude. The event also marked the launch of Love’s Grammar, a debut poetry collection by Ankita Gupta. The celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including donor member Jyoti Prasad Kanoi, along with current and former faculty, staff, and students.
