A Correspondent, Silchar: In view of continued waterlogging in several parts of the district and the use of school buildings as relief shelters, the Cachar District Administration has extended the closure of all educational institutions until Sunday. An official order issued by the Office of the Additional District Magistrate, Cachar, stated that all government, provincialised, private, and venture schools will remain closed on Friday, June 6. This follows an earlier directive issued on June 3, which initially mandated temporary closure due to worsening flood conditions and persistent rainfall. The decision comes as the district grapples with flood-related disruptions, with many interior areas still waterlogged and schools repurposed to accommodate affected families. With Saturday, June 7, declared a public holiday for Eid-uz-Zuha and Sunday being a weekend, schools across Cachar district are now set to reopen on Monday, June 9. Authorities emphasized that the move was made in the interest of public safety and to facilitate uninterrupted relief work for flood-affected citizens. The order, issued with immediate effect, carries the approval of the District Magistrate, Cachar.
