Big potholes on under-construction NH four lane at Nagaon

Staff Reporter Nagaon, June 13: Due to alleged misproportion of construction materials like low standard bitumen, etc, allegedly applied by the construction agencies, the under-construction NH 37 four lane road from Uriagaon Chariali, Nagaon towards Sonitpur - Biswanath Chariali under NHIDCL, Tezpur office, has been cracked on various places and later turned into many big potholes on the under-construction from Amoni to Kaliabor Tiniali within months just after its completion. Significantly, the construction agencies repaired all those potholes flouting the rules of National Highway and allegedly tried to release the payment by managing the authority concerned of NHIDCL, some locals alleged today here. The locals however claimed that as per norms of National Highway, if any part of an under-construction road cracks or damages due to technical or other reasons, construction agencies should clear the entire damaged area and reconstruct accordingly. But the construction agencies instead of clearing the damaged areas on the road, simply repaired all those potholes and are trying to clear their remaining dues from NHIDCL, the locals alleged. Hence , they urged the authority concerned of NHIDCL not to pay their dues until and unless they reconstruct the damaged areas of the under-construction NH four lane road. Besides, the locals also sought a high level official probe in this regard.
