Minister Pijush Hazarika inaugurates newly declared Biswanath district

Staff Reporter, Biswanath Chariali, September 17: The guardian minister of Biswanath cum State Water Resources, Information & Public Relation and Parliamentary Affairs minister Pijush Hazarika today attended the ceremony of inauguration of Biswanath district in a public meeting held at Kamala Kanta Natya Samaj here. The inaugural session was attended by all the MLA’s of Biswanath including Ranjit Dutta, Utpal Bora and Pramod Borthakur, MLA’s of Behali, Gohpur and Biswanath LAC respectively. Addressing the inaugural session, minister Hazarika reminded people about the CM’s promise that the CM had promised that Biswanath would be declared as a full-fledged district after sorting out the issue of delimitation. He further added, ‘Today I am happy to inaugurate the newly declared district in the presence of you. Now, I would appeal to all of you to put your hands together to lead the district in the path of development.’ Earlier to this, Dr Neha Jadav, commissioner of Biswanath district forwarded a welcome address. Before the open session, minister Hazarika, inaugurated the Amrit Brikhya Andolan and planted a sapling inside the premises of the venue. The inaugural session was also attended by Prabin Hazarika, former minister, Paresh Borkakaty, vice chairman of Animal Husbandry, Biswanath SP Subhasish Baruah, Labanya Charengiya, chairman of Biswanath Zila Parishad, Pankaj Bora, Diganta Ghatowar among other dignitaries. The minister also inaugurated the Amrit Kalash Yatra, a nationwide campaign undertaken by the union government. It is pertinent to mention here that Biswanath was declared as a full-fledged district in 2016. But the district status of Biswanath was curtailed on December 31, 2022 due to some administrative issues. But Biswanath retained the status of a district as per the government notification bearing ECF.No.367433/29 dated September 7 last.
