CM Dr. Sarma attends OP of newly appointed Assistant Professors

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, July 26: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that in the ever-changing demands of the modern days and the role of education in meeting the ever-changing demands, the teachers have a great role to play. Attending the orientation training programme of the newly appointed assistant professors at Assam Administrative Staff College here today, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that in view of the changing landscape of higher education and the emerging trends of profession, teachers have a crucial role to play as the bridge. He said that the orientation training to be imparted to the assistant professors will help them to empower themselves in meeting the new trends of higher education vis-a-vis the demands of the students. Stating that the teachers create the future, the Chief Minister said that in order to do justice to their avowed objective of creating the future human resources, teachers will have to work with commitment and utmost dedication. Dr. Sarma also called upon the assistant professors to get themselves acquainted with the National Education Policy 2020 and impart teaching to align the education in line with the provisions of the NEP 2020. He also asked them to take the lead in contributing to the development journey of the state. The Chief Minister said that NEP 2020 has already been rolled out in the state. The newly recruited assistant professors should make themselves familiar with every nitty-gritty of the policy to teach the students in cognizance with the true spirit of the policy. He said that though some of the colleges in the state have not received any recognition from NAAC, he asked the assistant professors to take a lead in empowering the colleges to get NAAC ratings. Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Adviser Education to Government of Assam Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Secretary Higher Education and School Education Department Narayan Konwar and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
