Assam Governor Kataria visits Goalpara Sainik School

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, July 24: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on his maiden visit to Goalpara district today, visited the Sainik School. The Governor was accompanied by the DC and SP and held a meeting with the Principal of the school, Col Y.S. Parmar S.M., and other staff members. During the meeting, the Principal provided a comprehensive overview of the school, its facilities, course curriculum, and admission procedures. He also apprised the Governor of the students’ commendable achievements in sports and other fields, along with the success of its students in various defence examinations. Later, addressing the teachers and students of the school, Governor Kataria emphasized the importance of discipline in facilitating individual growth. He expressed his delight in witnessing the school's relentless commitment to imparting high quality education thereby preparing the students to serve selflessly in defence services and contribute to the growth of the nation. The Governor applauded the school for its crucial role in promoting education among students and also asked them to instill deep love for the motherland, preserving cultural heritage, and embracing self-sufficiency. The Governor highlighted the positive trend of girls excelling in various sectors and emphasized the pivotal role both boys and girls play in the nation's growth. The Governor said that he envisioned a future where their collective contributions will lead India to become a Vishwaguru. The governor also stressed on adoption of sustainable practices and asked the school authority for the installation of solar grids to generate the school's own power. Later, the Governor visited the Sri Suryapahar, the archaeological site, and explored the Suryapahar Archaeological Museum, which showcases the rich historical heritage of the region. He also witnessed the old antiques and artifacts exhibited there.
