AJYCP, Nagaon commemorates poet Nilmani Phookan at Nagaon

Staff Reporter, Nagaon, January 24: The district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad, Nagaon organized a brief function to commemorate Jnanpith awardee noted Assamese poet Nilmani Phookan late evening on Monday last at the open stage of Silpi Pranab Baruah Children Park near Nagaon Nehrubali field here. The programme was initiated with lighting as well as garlanding the portrait of the poet Nilmani Phookan. A dozen of noted Assamese litterateur as well as other dignitaries of the district like physician poet Dr Prayag Saikia, Pradeep Saikia, Assamese short story teller Sibananda Kakoti, Dr Hemanta Goswami, media activist Deben Saikia, journalist Gurmail Singh, etc participated in commemoration programme and also commemorated the poet Nilmani Phookan. During the programme, a dozen poets recited poems written by themselves. Professor Dr Milan Neog elaborated about his relation, attachment and also his association with the poet Nilmani Phookan. Pragjyotish Bonia and Debasish Das respectively president and secretary of the organization as well as other 50 members from the unit were present in the commemorative programme, a release added.
