National press club observed at Nagaon press club & MSSV

Bureau Report, Nagaon, November 16: Along with the rest of the nation, the District administration in association with Nagaon press club observed the national press day at the auditorium of Nagaon Press Club today. During the day, a lecture on 'the role of media in nation building' was also organized. Noted budding Assamese literary critic and professor Arindam Borkatoki was present as the keynote speaker while deputy commissioner, Nagaon Narendra Kr Shah graced the occasion as the guest. The programme was chaired by Jadab Saikia, president of Nagaon Press Club. In the programme, the members of Nagaon Press Club as well as other press clubs of the district were felicitated by district administration as well as Nagaon press club. Simultaneously, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya also observed the national press day at its auditorium this afternoon. On occasion of the day, a lecture on 'Bartoman Asomor Sangbad Madhyam Aru Sangbad Kormir Dayobadhata' was also organized where local media person Hareswar Borah was present as the keynote speaker. Mrinal Kr Bora, Registrar of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya delivered the welcome address and elaborated a brief note on the history of national media as well as media in Assam. Gauri Prasad Sarma, PRO of the university anchored the entire session. In his speech, the keynote speaker Borah elaborated a sketch on the current media scenarios in the state and regretted that due to various reasons or circumstances, the state media had to lose the public faith or credential. He urged the media fraternity to do self analysis to redeem its losing faith in the public mind. Registrar of the university, Dr Mrinal Kr Bora informed that over 13 students from the university had cleared national eligibility test and JRF in the current year among those 13, 7 students cleared national eligibility test while 6 students cracked JRF.
