Awareness programme on Tobacco and Health held at Bongalmora

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, November 9: Under the ageis of District Tobacco Control Cell, Lakhimpur and in collaboration with Assam Cancer Care Foundation, Lakhimpur, a school-level awareness programme on tobacco and health was organised at Bor Alengi Sankardev High School, Bihpuria today. In the programme, Lakhimpur Cancer Centre Dentist Dr. Ankita Ghosh talked about tobacco and its harmful effect on health. She basically focused on type of risk factors, NCDs screening and management and follow up process, oral cancer risk factors, common symptoms of oral cancer and tobacco related ill- effects and Tobacco Free Educational Institution (TOFEI) and COPTA section 4, 6a, 6b, 5 and section7. District Health manager of Community outreach programme of Assam Cancer Care Foundation, Lakhimpur Sanjeev Kumar Baitha briefed about the advanced services in Lakhimpur Cancer Centre, North Lakhimpur such as Chemotherapy, Radiation Oncology, CT scan, MRI, Mammography, Cancer Screening, Lab investigations, Cashless treatment facility under AAA/PMJAY, ESIC schemes and other tie up. He also mentioned that any non-cancer patient who needs diagnostic services can do their test in Lakhimpur Cancer Centre at Saboti, Near Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital,North Lakhimpur.
