Biswanath Chariali, October 31: The Sahitya Akademi has been organizing several programs in the past with an aim of promoting literature and culture and encouraging young poets, short story writers and essayists to practice literature. Gramalok is a programme undertaken by the national academy of letters to give upper hands for the emerging writers of rural areas. The literary programme convened by Biswanath Nagar Nepali Sahitya Sabha in collaboration with Biswanath College was held at Biswanath College with Dr. Bhakta Prasad Goutam in the chair yesterday. A total of 15 poets read out their self-composed poems. Prem Biswakarma explained the objectives of the programme while Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, principal of Biswanath College forwarded welcome address. Dr. Khemraj Nepal, member of Sahitya Akademi traced the literary activities carried out by the national academy of letters to promote and uplift literature and the role of Gramalok as well. Hem Kumar Goutam forwarded a critical analysis of the poems that were read out in the programme. Bedadeep Upadhyaya offered a vote of thanks which was attended by many dignitaries.
