Breast cancer awareness session held at LTK College

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, October 26: Under the ageis of Indian Medical Association, Lakhimpur branch and in association with Gender Equality Cell of Lakhimpur Telahi Kamalabori (LTK) College, North Lakhimpur, an awareness meeting titled "Breast cancer: prevention and its identification at early stage" was held at the college auditorium of LTK College on Saturday. The meeting, organised mainly for the girl students, was inaugurated by the Principal of LTK College Dr. Bubul Kumar Saikia at 12-00 p.m. In the meeting which was anchored by the co-ordinator of the Gender Equality Cell Lichamoni Baruah Gogoi, three member doctors of Indian Medical Association Dr. Manashi Phukan, Dr.Manik Mohan Baruah and Dr. Queen Baruah were present and they explained in detail on the subject matter of the meeting. Dr. Queen Baruah spoke in detail about breast cancer, its symptoms, the increasing rate of the patients of this disease in India,self-examination and the precautions to be taken. Dr. Manik Mohan Baruah lectured on the treatment of breast cancer and the vaccines that are administered now by the Medical Department of India. Dr. Manashi Phukan highlighted the changed life-style and food habits of the present time and its impact on the body. Besides the female students, all the members of the Women's Cell of the college were present in the meeting. Physical examination was,too, done in the event. The organisers expressed hope that the message of the awareness meeting would be spread to all the stages of the society through the girl students.
