World Suicide Prevention Day observed at Lakhimpur Central School

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, September 10: For the first time in North Lakhimpur, the World Suicide Prevention Day was observed in North Lakhimpur on Friday, a day before the actual date,e.g. September 10, as it is a holiday for the school due to second Saturday. The Day was observed at the Central School, Lilabari, North Lakhimpur under the complete aegis of the school's councellor Dr. Dhrubata Sarma, who in her lecture, elaborately explained about the natural causes of the tendency of suicide. She further said,'' Guardians should never give mental stress upon their children. Every child has own talent and the guardians should given chance to grow that talent by identifying that." Moreover, she said," The guardians should never conceal the mental problems of their children. If their child faces any mental problem, they must consult with the doctors at the proper time. Besides, counseling must be." Dr. Sarma also urged the guardians to keep an eye on the proper use of mobile phones by their wards. Eminent guest of the Day, the Principal of Gogamukh College, Dhemaji, Dr. Dilip Kumar Jha commented that suicide is not the ultimate way to solve any problem. Students of Central College. North Lakhimpur performed several dramas and music related to the significance of the Day. Earlier, the Chief Guest of the Day, Lakhimpur DC Sumit Sattawan started the Day's programme by lighting the lamp and the objective of the observation of the Day was explained by the Principal of the school Vivek Kumar Chouhan. Dr. Paramananda Mishra anchored the whole event of the Day.
