Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights held at Biswanath College

Staff Reporter, Biswanath Chariali, September 27: A one day workshop on the topic 'Intellectual Property Rights: Issues and Challenges' was held today at Biswanath College in presence of faculties and students of the college. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Chinta Mani Sharma where he expressed his views on how the Intellectual Property Rights domain has changed the ecosystem of innovation in the present day world. The workshop witnessed the presence of Prof. Prodeep Phukan, Director, College Development Council, Gauhati University as the distinguished Resource Person. Phukan in his speech covered the areas related to the meaning of Intellectual Property Rights, Types of IPR, patents and many others. He also enlightened the faculties about the copyright process of any publication of their own. Prof Prodeep Phukan also put forward his views on the Patent Act of India, 1970. After the speech, an interactive session was held as well. Dr. Rahul Sharma, Assistant Professor from the Department of Zoology and Dr. Nabanita Sharma from the Department of Education put forward their queries related to registration of patents and copyright of research publications. The workshop was hosted by the Institutions Innovation Council in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Biswanath College.
