Nowboicha College celebrated fresher's social

Staff reporter, North Lakhimpur, September 19: The much awaited Fresher's Day was celebrated on a grand scale at Nowboicha College of Lakhimpur district here on Friday. The day -long programme was inaugurated by hoisting the College Flag by the Principal of the College Dr. Gunindra Nath Sarmah at 9 am. He was given a Guard of Honour by the NCC Cadets of the College . A number of students along with teachers of the College were present in the flag hoisting programme. After this programme , the Vice-Principal of the College Mondita Borah paid tribute to the martyrs of Assam who laid down their lives for the sake of our state at Swahid Bedi by lighting earthen lamps. At 10 a.m. the Wall Magazine of the College ``Udayan” was inaugurated by the Principal of the College. The General Meeting of the Fresher's Programme was started by 11 a.m. and it was inaugurated by Dr. Rahul Pegu, Circle Officer, Nowboicha Revenue Circle. The meeting was presided over by the Principal of the College Dr. Gunindra Nath Sarmah. One of the renowned educationists of the State Dr. Mukunda Rajbongshi was invited as the appointed Speaker of the programme. The Chairman of Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) Rukma Gohain Baruah was also invited as the Special invited guest to the programme. Pulak Borah, ex-student of the college was also invited as the Special Guest for the programme. The noted personalities were felicitated by Phulam Gamosa, Xorai and Mishing Mafler by the Students' Union Body of the College. In their speech the noted personalities said that the students should be aware of the changes taking place in society besides academics. They advised the students to take equal interest in their studies, sports and extra-curricular activities for the all round development of their personality. In his presidential speech the Principal of the College Dr. Gunindra Nath Sarmah said that the newly joined students should act in accordance with changes and help to build a better society. The students should make best use of their time , he added . He also added that time once lost, would never be regained under any circumstances . The students from various departments of the College who came out with flying colours in their B.A. Final Examination this year was felicitated by the teachers of College. The campus wore a festive look with the active participation of a large number of students in various cultural activities. The much awaited cultural programme was inaugurated by the Principal of the College. The programme was started with the College Chorus by the girl students of the College. Dance performances, folk songs and group dances by the newly joined fresh students attracted the attention of the audience. The main attraction of the programme was the local artist Nilim Konwar who was invited by the Students' Union Body of the College. The programme came to an end by 5 pm. All the students present in the auditorium hall indulged in a lot of fun and frolic. All the teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the College were present in the programme.
