Barshashree appears in exams today

STAFF REPORTER, Guwahati, July 16: Barshashree Buragohain (19), who has been arrested since May for her Facebook post allegedly supporting the banned Ulfa (Independent) will appear in her semester exam on Saturday. On Thursday, a court in Assam directed the Golaghat prison authorities to allow Barshashree to appear for her second semester BSc examinations from July 16. The court stated that Barshashree will have to appear in the examination under tight security in Golaghat jail. Barshashree, a mathematics student at DCB Girls College in Jorhat, was held on May 18 by the Uriamghat police in the Golaghat district under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or UAPA. According to the official, she had been accused of posting a message that “seems” to “encourage the public” to support the Ulfa (I).
