OC, Constable Swept Away by Flood Waters in Kampur

Hareswar Borah, Nagaon, June 20: The flood water washed away the officer in charge of Kampur police station sub-inspector Samujjal Kakoti and constable Rajib Bordoloi last night when a police team led by SI Kakoti went to Kampur Pasonijar Modhupur area to help some flood victims there. Sources claimed that two other police personnel were also washed away along with SI Samujjal Kakoti and constable Rajib Bordoloi, were luckily rescued by some locals at night itself. Being informed, the SDRF personnel conducted operation in search of the bodies of those missing police official as well as the constable at night and were able to recover the body of constable Rajib Bordoloi in the wee hours today while the body of SI Samujjal Kakoti was recovered late this morning by SDRF personnel, sources added. When the police team was on their way to Kampur Pasonijar Modhupur, constable Rajib Bordoloi drowned and within a few seconds he was washed away by flood water. Meanwhile SI Samujjal Kakoti and other two police personnel immediately took a bid to rescue constable Rajib Bordoloi. But they were also washed away by the heavy current of the flood water, sources said, adding that the two police personnel - Ranjit Bora and another were later rescued by some locals. The incident of tragic death of two police personnel has casted a pall of gloom in the entire district. It is pertinent to mention that SI Samujjal Kakoti is a resident of Sanchari in Kamrup district while constable Rajib Bordoloi is a resident of Nagaon Hujgaon, on the outskirts of the town.
