26 July: The foundation stone of proposed 200 beded Sports hostel was laid by
MP, Mangaldai Lok sabha Constituency Dilip Saikia at Hazarikapara. The Sports
hostel would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs One core,seventy four
lakh thirty five thousand eight hundred ninety. Addressing the function
organised on the occasion under the auspices of Hazarikapara Anchalik Sports
Association MP, Dilip Saikia has highlighted the relevance of Sports and also
contributions of Hazarikapara towards the sports sector of the state. MLA,
Sipajhar LAC, Dr Paramananda Rajbansi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Darrang,
Pankaj Deka, LR Basumatary, In-Charge, District Sports Officer, Darrang, Pratap
Bardoloi, Chairman, Mangaldai Development Authority, Rana Basitha, Ripunjoy
Saikia, Dipak Nath and Pranab Barua, leading young social activist were graced
on the occasion as guest of honour.The function was presided over by Dr
Amarendra Narayan Dev. The guest as well as people of all walks of life of
greater Hazarikapara area in Darrang district have highly appreciated the role
of Chandra Kumar Sarma, secretary, Hazarikapara Anchalik Sports Association and
leading sports organiser on this regard. The public also expressed their
gratitude towards the former PWD Minister and present Chief Minister Dr Himanta
Bishwa Sharma for sanctioning the amount for the construction of the sports
hostel.
