Actress-environmentalist
Juhi Chawla on Monday has filed a plea at the Delhi High Court against the
setting up of 5th-generation (5G) wireless networks in the country. In
her lawsuit, Juhi raised matters related to the radiation impression on
citizens, animals, flora and fauna against the much-debated 5G technology. The
actress stated that while she is not against technological progressions but
believes that there is enough reason to believe that radiation from 5G is
extremely dangerous to humanity. Juhi stated that if the 5G technology comes
into effect, no living being on World will be able to avoid contact. She said
that the levels of RF radiation will be 100x times greater than what exists
today. Justice C Hari Shankar has moved the suit to another bench and the next
hearing is on June 2nd. In telecommunications, 5G is
the fifth-generation technology standard for broadband cellular
networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in
2019, and is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide
connectivity to most current cell phones. 5G networks are predicted to
have more than 1.7 billion subscribers worldwide by 2025, according to
the GSM Association.
