Staff Reporter, Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on September 8 to take part in the birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday. The PM will arrive first at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat district and dedicate to the nation the bio-ethanol plant, set up at a cost of Rs 4,200 crore, he said. The PM will then travel to Mangaldoi in Darrang district, where he will inaugurate the Guwahati-Ring Road, a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kuruwa and Narengi in Guwahati, and also lay the foundation stone of the Mangaldoi Medical College Hospital. Prime Minister Modi will come to Guwahati later in the afternoon to kick off the year long celebration of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centenary Celebration at Kalakhetra. On the other hand, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive on August 29 to participate in the NDA convention of newly elected members of Panchayat, Anchalik Panchayat and Zila Parishad members where Assam govt give thrust on agriculture and diary production in the vacant lands of the villages through cooperative societies. Amit Shah will also inaugurate the newly built Raj Bhawan on the bank of mighty Brahmaputra earlier in the day.
