Nationwide Agricultural Vision Unveiled; launches Viksit Krishi Sankalp

News Desk, New Delhi: In a significant push toward strengthening India’s agricultural framework, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated the Annual Conference of Vice-Chancellors of Agricultural Universities and Directors of ICAR Institutes at Subramaniam Auditorium, Pusa, New Delhi today. The conference brought together a distinguished assembly, including Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, Dr. M.L. Jat, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Secretary of DARE, along with all Deputy Director Generals, Assistant Director Generals, and senior agricultural officials from across the nation. Addressing the gathering, Shri Chouhan described ICAR as the "temple of agricultural education, extension, and research," and emphasized the critical role of farmers, calling them "the gods" of this temple. He praised the contributions of agricultural scientists and universities while underlining the urgent need to bridge existing gaps and translate research into tangible benefits for farmers. In this occasion, the Minister launched the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a national campaign focused on increasing kharif crop production, lowering farming input costs, and bolstering food security. He urged scientists, university leaders, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and government agencies to directly engage with farmers, understand on-ground challenges, and deliver visible results in the upcoming season. Dr. M.L. Jat and other leaders echoed the Minister’s message, emphasizing integrated efforts and accountability in agricultural governance. The conference underscored the importance of collaborative innovation and policy alignment to support the farming community. As the conference concluded, it set a new tone for the future—one where agricultural research, education, and policy unite to empower farmers and drive sustainable, inclusive growth in Indian agriculture.
